Let me make some things very clear first.This puzzle is not for the impatient and rusty heads.Please understand that solving the cube is simple but not trivial.
Also Speed-Cubing can be very very addictive.

Over View

Having said that let me give you an overview of the method I am going to tell you.
Basically here you will be solving the cube layer by layer and NOT face by face as most beginners presume.
Before proceeding further, make sure read the basics of the Rubik's Cube and know the notation well.
The method consists of the following steps:

Step	What is to be done?	Cube state
Make a Cross at the bottom	We make a cross using the edges of the bottom layer making sure that the edge faces match the corresponding centres.
Complete the first layer	Here we insert the four first layer corners into their corresponding positions.
Complete the second/middle layer	Four middle layer edges are inserted into their positions.
Orient the top layer edges	The four top layer edges are oriented such that a cross is formed on the top layer.
Permute the top layer edges	All the top layer edges are put in thier respective postions.
Permute the top layer corners	All the top layer corners are put in thier respective postions not necessarily twisted correctly.The cube in the applet is one of the possible states.
Orient the top layer corners	Finally all the wrongly twisted top layer corners are twisted correclty. Voila! You are a genius.You solved THE Rubik's Cube!
